It’s unattractive, dull, and strikes one as a late 80s digital wristwatch. Indeed, it’s apparent very little effort went to making this latest wrist contraption sexy. But maybe that’s the point. See, what it does is keep tab of circular wrist motions similar to what’s done when eating.
Even the name hardly inspires enthusiasm: bite counter. Well, that’s what it does, counting the bites in every meal. Does it make a difference. The people over at Clemson University kind of think so. The whole point of the bite counter is to induce some sort of safeguard to pigging out.
Unfortunately, would someone enjoying their meal want to have their mouthfuls recorded? This seems to be an accessory perfect for health buffs and the fanatical set who are fighting a constant struggle against the bulge. The bite counter might also be problematic in unlikely situations. Like eating fruit (which definitely would be a good cheat as well as being healthy in itself).
The real problem is at $800 a lot of people might be put off by its supposed benefits.
