How Apple can add a Printer to their iMac

While Apple may have no plans of adding printers to their product line-up, someone has this creative idea on how printing capabilities can be integrated inside the sleek and beautiful body of an iMac. While this is obviously a prototype done in Photoshop, it can possibly be used for scanning documents as well without adding an extra machine on to your desk.

Santa Monica Glass-Roofed Apple Store Receives The Green Light

Yesterday we featured the application for a new glass-roofed store in Santa Monica, which even though was applied for by a “Howard Robinson” and the property owner as ASB/Blatteis Promenade Holdings, LLC. The Architect drawings gave the store away as an Apple establishment.

Well last night the new store was approved and given the green light to progress by the Santa Monica’s Planning Commission. The new building will now replace the existing three storey building that used to be a Borders Bookstore.

There has been some surprise just how quickly the plans have been approved and on the Santa Monica Dispatch website, Peggy Clifford writes:

“The surprise was that the staff put the project on the Consent Calendar. I cannot remember any large, complex commercial project ever going on the Consent Calendar. Apple was the only item on last night’s Calendar. And, under the rules, the Consent Calendar is approved as a whole – unless someone wishes to pull at item for discussion.”

Apple Installing LTE Equipment, Possible 4G iPhone Arriving Soon?

Its seems that a major Apple store has received some LTE equipment installed by AT&T engineers, according to a source that has leaked the information to the Engadget website.

The new equipment installed in the Apple store supports the 700 megahertz band of spectrum, the same band that AT&T plans to use to roll its LTE network out, together with AWS bands, which are used by T-Mobile. Does this LTE installation mean a new 4G iPhone is ready for immanent launch?

Engadget was also tipped that the store in question is also now looking to increase its staff by 30%, and not related to the hiring of extra holiday staff.

Going on past experience when similar Verizon installations and towers were installed on the Apple campus, shortly afterwards the Verizon iPhone was rolled out. Does all this mean we can expect to see a new 4G iPhone soon? Maybe, or Apple is just preparing for the future and trialling the AT&T equipment. What are your thoughts?

Apple Store Goes Offline (Updated)

Is Apple preparing to launch a new product? As the Apple Store has been taken offline and the ”We’re Updating the Store” message has appeared in its place. No new product launches have been announced which could indicate a reason why the Apple Store is currently offline.  But Gizmodo is taking a stab in the dark and suggesting that a it might be for the launch and arrival of Apple’s new 1080p Apple TV.

Place your bets now as to what might be new or differnet in the Apple Store once it re appears after the updating is complete. As more information becomes available and the store comes back online we will keep you updated.

**(Updated)  Unfortunately the downtime was nothing more than a server malfunction which Apple has now sorted.
